Supporting healthy development, comfort, and movement in babies, children, and adolescents through gentle osteopathic care.
Our experienced cranial osteopaths provide calm, child-centred treatment to support growth, movement, and wellbeing — working alongside medical care to help children feel comfortable and supported.
Cranial osteopathy focuses on supporting comfort, mobility, and function in growing bodies. We work alongside parents and healthcare providers to help children adapt better to physical stresses and developmental demands.
Every child is assessed and treated individually. Sessions are gentle, unhurried, and adapted to your child’s age, tolerance, and developmental stage.
We begin by understanding your child’s full picture, including:
Pregnancy and birth history
Developmental milestones
Feeding, sleep, and daily routines
Previous medical input
This ensures treatment decisions are clinically relevant and appropriate. For older children, we also consider school demands, sports load, posture, and emotional stressors that may influence physical wellbeing.
Assessment is carried out using:
Light, non-forceful touch
Observation of natural movement
Simple, comfortable positioning
Babies are usually examined while being held or resting comfortably. Older children are guided gently through movements. We continuously monitor comfort and explain each step clearly to both child and parent.
Treatment may include:
Cranial osteopathy
Soft-tissue techniques
Gentle joint mobilisation
There is no cracking or forceful manipulation. Techniques aim to support the body’s ability to adapt and self-regulate. Many children relax deeply during sessions, and babies often settle or sleep.
Where helpful, we provide practical advice on:
Positioning and handling
Postural support
Age-appropriate movement or activity
Advice is realistic and designed to fit naturally into daily routines. Our role is to support parents with understanding — not overwhelm them with unnecessary instructions or unrealistic expectations.
We work alongside GPs, Health visitors, Midwives and paediatric teams.
Osteopathy does not replace medical care. If we identify signs that require further investigation, we refer promptly. Transparency, safety, and honest communication remain central to every recommendation we make.
Led by Christina Lenz (MSc Ost), specialising in women’s and pelvic health, alongside Tajinder Deoora (MSc, DO(Hons)) with over 40 years of clinical expertise.
With nearly two decades of clinical practice, we have supported generations of families, building deep experience in cranial osteopathy within a trusted, regulated, and well-established Harley Street clinic.
We assess the entire body — not just symptoms — considering posture, movement, nervous system balance, growth stages, and emotional factors to support a child’s overall comfort and development.
Cranial osteopathy can support children at different life stages, adapting care to their changing physical and developmental needs.
Babies may benefit from gentle osteopathy to support comfort, movement, and adaptation following pregnancy and birth, particularly during the early weeks of rapid physical change.
As children learn to sit, crawl, walk, and explore, osteopathy may help support coordination, balance, and comfort during these physically demanding developmental milestones.
Children managing school routines, heavy backpacks, sports, or prolonged sitting may benefit from osteopathic support to maintain healthy posture, flexibility, and movement patterns.
During growth spurts and increased activity, osteopathy may help adolescents manage musculoskeletal strain, postural stress, and recovery from physical demands or minor injuries.
Every child develops differently, and support should reflect that. Our experienced cranial osteopaths offer calm, careful, and personalised care to help your child feel more comfortable and supported at every stage.
We aim to make every visit calm, reassuring, and child-friendly, helping both parents and children feel comfortable from the moment they arrive.
Your appointment begins with a relaxed discussion about your child’s health, development, and any concerns you have. Parents are encouraged to ask questions and share observations. This conversation helps guide safe, relevant, and individualised care.
Assessment is performed using light, respectful touch. Babies are usually examined while being held or lying comfortably. Older children are guided through simple movements. We explain what we’re doing at every step to maintain trust and comfort.
We explain our findings in clear, simple language and encourage questions.
This is a collaborative discussion, helping you understand what may be contributing to your child’s symptoms and how we can address it.
Treatment is gentle, non-invasive, and adapted to your child’s tolerance.
There is no forceful manipulation, and treatment always progresses at a pace your child feels comfortable with.
At the end of the session, we discuss findings and offer simple guidance where helpful.
This may include positioning tips, activity advice, or reassurance about development, ensuring parents feel informed and supported.

Cranial osteopathy is considered safe when delivered by a fully qualified, regulated osteopath with experience treating babies and children. Techniques are extremely gentle and adapted to a child’s age, size, and stage of development. There is no forceful manipulation. Treatment is always guided by your child’s comfort and response. If, at any point, symptoms suggest the need for medical investigation, we will advise referral to your GP or paediatric team without delay.
Babies can be seen from the early weeks of life, although osteopathy is never routine or necessary for every child. Some parents seek support following a long or assisted birth, feeding difficulties, or unsettled behaviour, while others attend simply for reassurance.
During the first appointment, we take time to:
discuss pregnancy and birth history
understand your baby’s behaviour, feeding, and sleep
answer questions openly and honestly
This allows parents to decide whether treatment feels appropriate.
The number of sessions varies depending on your child’s age, presentation, and how they respond to treatment. Some children benefit from one or two appointments, while others may require short-term support over several weeks. We review progress regularly and explain our reasoning clearly. There is never pressure to continue treatment unnecessarily, and care is always proportionate, ethical, and focused on your child’s best interests.
Osteopathy does not claim to cure colic or reflux. However, gentle treatment may help support comfort by addressing physical tension and encouraging relaxation of the nervous system. Some parents report improvements in settling, sleep, or general ease following treatment.
Osteopathy should be seen as complementary care, and we always encourage ongoing support from your GP, midwife, or health visitor, particularly for feeding, weight gain, or digestive concerns.
A GP referral is not required to book a cranial osteopathy appointment, and parents are welcome to contact us directly. However, we strongly value collaborative care and regularly work alongside GPs, midwives, and health visitors. If we identify anything outside osteopathic scope, we will recommend appropriate medical review. Your child’s safety, wellbeing, and continuity of care always come first.
